I use this one, because it has everything you could think of and then some. I get this list from They have all types of lists to use for grocery shopping. Stuff I don’t need does not get a check mark. Below is the grocery list that I use to go get the groceries for a 2-week period. I am a visual person and like to keep lists of tasks that need to be done monthly, weekly and yearly lists of groceries, etc. I am the type of person to write things down and not rely very heavily on electronics to make lists and such. So, we are still getting our fresh fruits and veggies. For the first week after the shopping trip, we will eat on the fresh foods and keep the frozen and canned foods for the 2 nd week. Now of course, it is not possible to keep fresh fruits and fresh veggies longer than about 5-6 days on the countertop, (last about 7-8 days in frig). That also helped cut down the grocery bill, big time. I am cooking anyway why not make some for later, when I really don’t feel like cooking. What I will do, is make the complete recipe, but then freeze or can the leftovers for later in the month. Some of the recipes I have are for larger gatherings. It’s about the important things in life, after all!! That way everything was rotated and used within the used by date. I will only get the supplies I need to make those specific meals. Knowing I only had 2 trips a month to get everything we need, I got really good at planning out our meals for the next two weeks. If I miss something off the list, and it is not a matter of life or death, it was going to have to wait till the next shopping trip. This past week, since the layoff, I have been cleaning house (another blog post) and trying to get a list of supplies we have on hand, so I can go to the grocer 2 times a month and get everything we need for the 2-week period. With my income contribution to the household cut to less than a third of what my weekly paycheck was, I had to do some serious revamping of our budget. Slowly over the following months, I learned to scale back on the grub load and had finally gotten to the point where I was having fun planning and cooking for 2. Soon after they moved out, when I was still in the cooking for 4 stage, the boys would get a phone call from me, asking them to swing by for a meal because I had made too much, yet again. I have been cooking for 4 and kinda got into a rut. Then after we got married, it was not long before our family started growing. I come from a family of 9 and was the primary chef while I was still at home. When the boys moved out to their own place the beginning of 2019, it was hard to scale the meals down to fit 2 people.
